December 2014/January 2015 Newsletter
Christmas Gifts to Teachers
We hope you’ll respond to our letter requesting donations for the bonuses we give our teachers to thank them for their hard work. You may mail checks to La Causerie using the envelope sent to you in the post or give them to La Causerie coordinator Amanda Hassett when you come to class.
Teacher evaluation forms have been emailed to students. Don’t forget to fill them out and either drop them off at the name tag desk on the third floor or give to Amanda. The evaluations let us know of students’ concerns and suggestions and enable us to improve instruction.
Holiday Fête and Break
This year’s holiday party will be at noon on Friday, December 19th, right before we break for the winter holidays. Food will be potluck style so any holiday favorites you want to share would be greatly appreciated. We have access to a refrigerator and oven in the kitchen adjoining the large reception room on the ground floor where we meet should you need it for what you bring to share.
There will be no classes on Dec. 26 or Jan 2. Classes will resume on January 9, 2015.
La Causerie follows the snow day guidelines used by the Shawnee Mission School District (SMSD). If the weather is inclement, please check the local news and radio for school closings. If SMSD has a snow day,- so does La Causerie!
Enjoy the weekly coffee and snacks? Please remember that members donate these items. If you are interested in volunteering snacks, there is a sign up sheet for Friday mornings in the Social Room. You will not be expected to provide snacks for the whole school, as three or four other members will contribute too. La Causerie provides the coffee and tea and we ask for donations to help cover the beverage costs, which are not allotted in the La Causerie budget. All contributions are appreciated.
Anyone Still Interested In Classes?
We encourage you to continue spreading the word about our language classes. Please direct any potential student to the La Causerie website for more information. We realize a majority of our enrollment is due to continual support and word of mouth from our members.
We have been asked to remind students to please refrain from parking in the spots in front of the Crestwood Shops.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our board assistant, Amanda Hassett, or any of the board members.
